‘Le Turounet’ is a spacious and welcoming residence in an ideal location for all levels of skier to discover and explore the ski resorts of the unspoilt French Pyrenees.We offer freedom and flexibility, with a choice of bed and breakfast, optional 4 course evening meal, or a catered package, over any number of days. Our favourite destination is the nearest resort of St Lary Soulan, in our opinion one of the best in the Pyrenees with over 100km of pisted skiing in an area covering 700 hectares. It is an authentic mountain village servicing a number of surrounding ski areas, which makes for a great apres-ski atmosphere. There are a good variety of bars and restaurants, with some clubs open all night during the skiing season. In the summer St Lary is a buzzing centre for tourism and extreme sports. |
The resorts of Peyragudes, Piau-Engaly and Val de Louron are also within easy reach, as is the well established resort of Tourmalet (incorporating Bareges and La Mongie). A little further afield is the lovely old spa town of Cauterets, and Superbagneres, a custom built ski area, is also readily accessible.
The beauty of the local ski areas is that you can get a lift pass for any number of days, half a day or even a couple of hours, with the average daily cost around €30 per adult.
For snow-shoe walking and cross country skiing there are the local dedicated areas of Nistos and Payolle, offering a range of tracks of varying length and difficulty.
We can introduce you to local English speaking guides, experienced and qualified, to take you snow-shoe walking, skiing or snowboarding, finding the best snow and helping you discover new areas.
When you return to “le Turounet”, you will find a heated boot room, plenty of hot water and a log fire waiting for you, with cakes and hot drinks for those on half board.
